The Highland Fling created a Poetry Contest to get Students involved with the online newspaper
and we are glad to announce Sydnee Reardon as our winner!!
I’ve broken into pieces so many times
I didn’t think I could be put back together
I was like Humpty Dumpty
But I continued to climb back on the wall
Just to fall off again
The wall seemed to get taller and harder
To climb every time
My nails were stubs and my fingers were bleeding
Till I was in so many pieces
I had nothing left to climb with
I was a bunch of broken pieces
Scattered across the floor
Like glass
People were scared to help me
Because of the fear of being cut
I was like a piece of paper crumpled up so many times
I was torn and creased
No one could write their story with me any longer
Until one girl came along
She was broken too
She saw my broken pieces and put them back together
She wasn’t scared to get cut
She took her time making sure
I was back to how I was
But she added some extra pieces
Using her own
Putting me before herself
Building me back up and making me even better than before
I left that wall i tried to climb a million times
And we found a new one together
helped each other climb to the top
We sat up there looking forward at the world
Knowing we would have each other through the rest of our lives
My best friend
She put me back together and never left my side
I’m put together again
And she is always a part of me
