Are skinny jeans gone, or are they coming back?

Skinny jeans are a type of jeans that fit skinny and tight. I personally love them, but I hate my body, so I never wear them. Recently a lot of people have been saying they are coming back just because Alix Earle wore them, but that shouldn’t be the reason they come back.

Skinny jeans started gaining popularity in the early 2000s, as a fashion trend for women. They were made to complement your body more for women and be more sexy than baggy jeans. They have been losing popularity recently? but you know what hasn’t? Their beautiful sister: Boot cut jeans.

Boot cut jeans still do the same that skinny jeans do; they just have a flare at the bottom of the legs/ankle. I personally think these are so much more pretty than skinny jeans. The reason boot cut jeans/flares were made were for cowboys and cowgirls, to help take boots off. They are very pretty and gained a lot of popularity during 2022, because of the downtown girl aesthetic, but they were also very popular in the early 2000s.

I personally think skinny jeans are very cute and when they are styled right in a cute emo or scene style – it is actually the cutest ever. I love all the ways people have styled them throughout the years. But their popularity has died down a little bit. They are not worn that much anymore and more people like baggy jeans more than the regular skinny jeans. But so far in the year 2024/2025, there has been a big growth with the indie sleaze aesthetic and they have been coming back a little bit. So I’m here to ask the question: are skinny jeans dead? Or are they in for a big comeback?
