Absence of Passion

Throughout the years, you are given opportunities to test the waters with various activities. Whether that involves sports or art, we often let our experiences growing up influence what we want to do in the future. However, in the long run, our passion may shift. Some go from dreaming of being world known athletes to desiring a simple, stable life. While others are able to continue pursuing dreams of their own, what happens to those who abandon their dreams in the process of growing up?

Losing passions is a part of life, this result stems from many reasons involving deep issues thrown our way, and one of the most common reasons is due to the shift in our priorities. Especially in the change between education levels, as more responsibilities are placed on students, resulting in the disconnection between them and their interests. Certain things aren’t meant to be forever but rather a learning device that helps fuel your growth.

However, as people continue putting an intense amount of effort towards these passions, they begin to feel burned out. The drive for our activities suddenly plummets and starts feeling rather like a chore. As a result, many face damages towards the physical, emotional, and mental being. As important as it is to give attention towards your passion, it is also important to pay attention towards yourself. Giving yourself breaks from time to time can prevent this issue from occurring. Although giving up on old interests is heartbreaking, it is never too late to pick up something new. Life comes with plenty of opportunities to discover new things about your own identity.

Moving on from these passions may result in a void to fill our entertainment, so in order to cope, many will try to adapt to newer hobbies. Dropping one passion shouldn’t stop you from finding another. Some people may feel regretful, but the most important way of gaining back your thrive is accepting your decisions to let one go. Don’t feel obligated to hold onto old passions if they no longer serve you, instead you should try to find the reason why you have let go of that old passion and once you find that reason, learn how to prevent it from happening again.

With all that being said, try that new sport, paint that picture and pick that instrument, because even if these hobbies don’t last, the memories and skills will.
