Happy Soccer Season!
It’s officially winter sports season, which means it’s officially soccer season! Here is everything you need to know about Helix Soccer.
For starters we have three girls soccer teams(varsity, junior varsity, and novice), and two boys soccer teams(varsity, junior varsity).
Our boys varsity is division one and was last year ranked 17 in San Diego county. Their first game was this past Tuesday which they won 3-1 against our rival school Grossmont. Their next game is here at Helix on Dec sixth at seven p.m., the boys will be playing against Clairemont High School who has also only won 1 game. Please show your support for our varsity boys soccer team and come out to watch them then!
Helix’s boys junior varsity (or jv) also won their game at Grossmont 3-0. Their next game will be at five p.m. on Dec twelfth, home against Coronado High School who has lost and tied both of their games. The game is also home so please make an effort to come see them play.
Moving to our Girls soccer teams, Helix’s girls varsity had their first game last Wednesday against San Pasqual. It was a complete blow out with our Highlanders winning 7-0 setting the tone for the rest of their season. Varsity’s next game is Friday, Dec sixth against San Diego High School, starting at six p.m. San Diego High School is on a 2 game losing streak, so hopefully our girls can pull out a win.
Our girls JV team also won their first game against San Pasqual last Wednesday, beating them 6-1 in an exciting match. Our jv girls had a great season last year and another one up ahead. They have a home game coming up on Saturday Dec 7 at eight a.m. I don’t expect many people to be there because it’s a weekend morning but no worries they have another home game the following Monday at six p.m. against El Capitan.
Finally our girls novice soccer team has yet to play a game after their first one was cancelled. However their next game is scheduled for January sixth at Otay Ranch at three p.m. Our novice team unfortunately doesn’t have that many games so please make an effort to go and see them at some point this season.
